Terms of Use

Effective August 12, 2026.

Reviews

By submitting a review you confirm it reflects your genuine first-hand experience, and you grant RateAFlorist a perpetual license to display it. We moderate all reviews and may decline or remove any content at our discretion. Ratings cannot be bought, boosted, or suppressed by any party.

Listings

Listing data is provided for consumers to find and contact florists directly. Automated scraping or bulk republication of the directory is prohibited. Florists may claim their listing free of charge; paid features affect visibility only and are labeled.

Paid listings and the satisfaction guarantee

By purchasing any paid listing feature, and as a condition of displaying the Verified Local Florist checkmark, a florist agrees to honor the Rate A Florist 100% Satisfaction Guarantee: the florist stands behind its flowers, plants, gifts and delivery service, and will work directly with the customer to resolve any concern about an order. Failure to honor the guarantee may result in removal of the checkmark, paid features, or the listing itself.

Orders

RateAFlorist is not a party to any transaction between you and a florist and takes no responsibility for orders, which are placed directly with the shop.

Content

User reviews are the opinions of their authors, not of RateAFlorist. If you believe a review or listing is fraudulent or defamatory, contact us via the claim flow and we will investigate.

Who may use the site and how

Anyone may read RateAFlorist. To write a review or claim a listing you must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, and you must be acting for yourself (as a customer) or for the shop you actually own or manage (as a florist). Using the site means you accept these terms, the Review Guidelines and the Privacy Policy; if you do not accept them, please do not submit anything.

A few things are off limits, and we enforce them because the directory only works if the data in it is honest:

The review license and our moderation rights

You own what you write. By submitting a review or a reply, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to store it, publish it on the shop's page, include it in the shop's rating, show it in the embeddable badge a florist can place on its own website, quote it in site features and search results, and let search engines index it. That license lasts because reviews lose their value if they can be pulled back whenever a shop and a reviewer make up; but it does not stop you asking us to edit or remove your own review, which we do after confirming with the email you gave (see the guidelines).

Every review is read by a person before it publishes. We may decline a review, ask you to change it, publish part of it, or remove it later, when it breaks the guidelines, when we have reason to doubt it is first-hand, when a court or the law requires it, or when it is about the wrong business. We do not edit the meaning of a review to make a shop look better or worse. A rating is the plain average of the reviews we publish, and nobody, including us, can pay to move it.

Florist accounts and the portal

Claiming a listing is free at /portal/signup and gives the shop access to the portal, where it can correct its details, reply once to each review and buy Premium. When you claim a listing you promise that:

There is one account per shop. A florist with several locations claims each one separately. If we find a listing claimed by someone who is not the owner or the owner's representative, we will hand it back to the rightful owner, remove any changes the wrong claimant made, and may bar that person from the portal. If a shop closes or is sold, tell us and we will close or transfer the account.

Premium billing

Premium costs $29 a month or $299 a year and adds the shop's photo, a link to its website, featured placement, and the Verified Local Florist checkmark. It affects where and how prominently a listing appears and is labeled as paid wherever it shows; it never touches ratings or the order of reviews. Details are on the for florists page.

Billing runs through Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly term until you cancel, and by subscribing you authorize Stripe to charge the card on file at each renewal. You can cancel at any time inside the portal with no notice period and no phone call. When you cancel, Premium features stay on until the date you have already paid through and then switch off, and the listing goes back to a free claimed listing. We do not give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law where you live requires one, or where we removed your Premium features for a reason that turned out to be our mistake. If a renewal payment fails, we will try again and email you; if it still fails, Premium ends at the paid-through date. We may change Premium prices with at least 30 days' notice by email, and a change applies from your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you prefer.

The Verified Local Florist checkmark and the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

The checkmark tells a customer two things: that we have confirmed the shop is a real local florist, and that the shop has agreed to stand behind its work. Every Premium florist accepts the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee as a condition of showing it. In accepting it, the florist commits to:

The guarantee is a promise from the florist to the customer. RateAFlorist is not the guarantor, does not hold funds, and does not pay claims. When a customer tells us a Premium florist has not honored the guarantee, we pass the complaint to the shop through the portal and ask it to work with the customer directly. Most concerns end there. If the customer reports that the shop did not respond or refused to make it right, we ask the shop for its side. A shop that repeatedly leaves fair complaints unresolved, or that tries to trade a remedy for a review, loses the checkmark and may lose Premium and the listing itself, without a refund of the current term.

Intellectual property

The RateAFlorist name, logo, the design of the site, our guides, blog posts, the wording of listings we have written, and the way the directory is organized belong to us and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may link to any page and quote short passages with attribution; you may not copy the site or present its content as your own.

Shop names, logos and photos belong to the shops. A florist that uploads a photo through the portal keeps ownership and gives us a license to display it on the listing and in site features for as long as the listing is claimed. Reviews belong to their authors under the license above. If you believe content on the site infringes your rights, tell us through the contact page with enough detail to find it, and we will look into it.

Disclaimers and limits on our responsibility

RateAFlorist is a directory. We list about 13,500 real flower shops across roughly 6,600 US cities and towns, and we do our best to keep the details right, but shops move, change hours, change phone numbers and close. We do not promise that any listing is complete, current or error-free, and you should confirm with the shop before relying on it, especially for a time-sensitive order.

We never sell flowers and never take an order. When you buy from a florist, whether by phone or on the shop's own website, the contract is between you and that shop. We are not a party to it, we do not process the payment, and we are not responsible for what is delivered, when, or for how any dispute about it is resolved, including under the satisfaction guarantee described above. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours.

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or from an order placed with a florist you found here, and our total liability to a florist for anything connected to Premium is limited to the amount that florist paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us because of something you submitted to the site, because you claimed a listing you had no right to, or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim, including legal fees.

Termination

You can stop using the site at any time, cancel Premium in the portal, and ask us to close your florist account or remove your reviews. We can suspend or close an account, remove content, or block access to the site when these terms or the guidelines are broken, when we believe an account is being misused, or when the shop is found not to be a real local florist. Where practical we will tell you why. The review license, the intellectual property terms, the disclaimers, the indemnity and the governing law clause survive termination.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute about the site are governed by the laws of the United States and by the state and federal law that applies to us there. Before starting any formal proceeding, both sides agree to try to resolve the matter by writing to each other first, and we will always respond to a good-faith message sent through the contact page. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The effective date at the top shows when the current version began. For material changes that affect Premium florists, we will email the address on the account at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. If you disagree, stop using the site and, for florists, cancel Premium before the change takes effect.

Contact and other things

Questions about these terms, reports of fraudulent listings or reviews, and rights requests all go through the contact page. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term in one case does not mean we waive it. These terms, together with the Review Guidelines and Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and RateAFlorist about the site. More background on how the site works and why it exists is on the about page and in the FAQ.
